You've Got to Start Somewhere

Unbelievable! After spending months of thinking about it I've finally started  a blog to document our journey. It all began with a move to the country to a long neglected old farmhouse.  The house was built in 1902 and has been home to dozens of families.  There she is at the beginning. It must have started as a beautiful yet functional place to call home.  But then the decades piled on, from the 1930's wallpaper to the pink kitchen era of the 1950's the home had been "touched up" over the years.  We were excited to see what we might find under the 1960's worn lineoleum and what could possibly be lurking under that plastic faux rock on the front of the house?

The home had morphed and grown to meet each new family's needs and all that history was hidden within the walls.  At one point in the 1970's the entire interior of the house was covered with that fabulous new paneling that everyone had to have.  I can imagine Mr. and Mrs. standing back and saying, "Wow, that looks amazing, we will never need to do another thing to this house."

Well that statement remained true for about 40 years, but all that is about to change.  Stick around to see the decades come off and watch as we add our legacy to the house and make it our home in the country!

  1. How exciting! And you are brand spanking new in this blog world!

So thank you for leaving a lovely comment on my painted porch rug. You came in as a no-reply blogger so I can't email you back. It's fixable from your Dashboard.

Looking forward to seeing your old house come to life! And I love the idea of a gray and yellow painted rug in your hallway upstairs. Just love that color combo!

    :)

  3. I know I'm late to your game here but I couldn't help commenting. The most famous last words ever....You won't have to do another thing to your house. HA!
