Log Cabin Love - A Tour

Not too far down the street is a big beautiful log cabin.

But if you are expecting to see a lot of log furniture, plaid flannel and antlers inside,

you are in for a big surprise.

My friend Kathy invited us over for a peak.

Right inside the door you know this is no ordinary cabin.

You are greeting with a crystal chandy,

some fancy fretwork,

and a cherub standing guard over the entrance to the parlor.

Kathy is able to create a perfect mix of victorian style against a rustic log interior.

She just has a knack for mixing rustic and refined pieces and creating a style all her own.

.....and that kitchen!!!

That show stopper of a stove combines all the looks of yesteryear with the convenience of today.

So how do you hang floating shelves on a bumpy log wall??

Well you don't,

You do something completely inventive like this.

Shelving boards stacked on matching pairs of urns.

Brilliant!!

Each detail has been selected to play against the rustic interior.

Like the egg and dart molding of the cabinet agains the rough hewn log ceiling.

Stepping down the hall, Kathy works her magic in the rest of the home too...

This rustic iron bed frame is a perfect compliment to the pink and white patchwork quilt.

Those surprising victorian touches are found in the most interest places.

There is even a tiny toddler bed upstairs,

perfect for an afternoon nap...

Thanks Kathy, for sharing your amazing fancy/rustic style!!!!

We'll just show ourselves to the gate,

If you liked this post you will love Kathy's girlfriend luncheon.

  7. To own a log home was a dream of ours, not to materialize. Thanks for showing such a lovely house. Very nice blend of decor - not every piece of furniture should be logs ;-)
